1889 Kelly's Directory

William Burton Sen. King's Head P.H, North Street, Crowland

1881 24 September - Boston Guardian

Heading: Spalding Petty Sessions

Frederick Trueman was charged by his brother Jonathan Trueman, with assaulting him at Crowland on the 3th August. - Complainant said he was the landlord of the King's Head, Crowland. - On the day in question he went to his brother Richard's house, where defendant lived.  His brother told him to come in.  He went in, but commenced to quarrel about some of their mother's things, and then Frederick put him out of the house.  He lifted him up and dropped him out. - William Trueman corroborated saying Frederick threw Jonathan out.  Defendant, a tall powerful man, said the quarrel was about family affairs.  His brother wanted to interfere and sell some things belonging to him.  Complaintant said he could not put him out, and the defendant said he would show him he could, and he did so. - The Chairman commented on the advisability of the brothers being friendly. - The case was withdrawn on payment of 5/6 costs.
