Note:  In 1861 St Leonard's Street was previously known as Common Muckhill.  There were three beerhouses situated in Common Muckhill namely, The Carpenter's Arms, The Slater's Arms and The Brewer's Arms, leading up to the Eight Bells Corner.

Heading:Petty Sessions - Saturday June 4th:

 

 

"The following persons were summoned by the Inspector of Weights & Measures for the offences, & fined the amounts undermentioned:

 

Geo. Hillam, Carpenters' Arms, New-town, charged with having in his possession, &c., one quart, two pint, and two half-pint measures, &c. Fined 2s.6d., and 12s.6d. costs."
