Stepping into this alcove in the bar is like stepping back into an

English hostelry 100 years ago.  All the furniture is genuine and some of it dates back to the late 1700's.  The alcove is a favourite spot of many customers.

Heading: Peterborough Licencing

“The Licence of Messrs. J.E.J & A.C Bays, Queen Street was objected to by the police on the grounds that it was not used, therefore not necessary.  The applicants, however contended that it was used.  The Chief Constable said he would withdraw the opposition if Messrs. Bays would undertake not to refuse to supply drink when asked for it to be consumed on the premises.  The renewal was granted”.
